In the realm of Digital networking, the choice of NFC cards could be confusing. With a range of materials to choose from it is always a confusion on which NFC cards to choose. Let us dive into the details on the pros and cons of each.

  1. Metal NFC Cards:
    • Pros:
      • Durable and stylish, metal NFC cards offer a premium look and feel
    • Cons:
      • Expensive, they command a premium
      • Other than being heavy, utility wise metal cards don’t transmit the NFC signal well. Usually, the metals cards have a small opening to transmit the NFC signal requiring some skill to tap.
      •  More over the metal card carry smudges of the finger prints.
      • Difficult to the scan the QR Code from metal cards with all the reflection
      • Also, the range of colors using the engraving is limited, while the UV Color prints on metal tend to wear off.
  2. Wooden Cards:
    • Pros:
      • Wooden NFC cards combine elegance with sustainability, offering a unique and eco-friendly options.
    • Cons:
      • Moderately expensive
      • With limited customizable engraving and any UV Color printing tend to wear off.
      • The bamboo based wooden cards tend to be very light and are not strong enough, may break easily.
  3. Customizable PVC Cards:
    • Pros:
      • Affordable
      • Extremely durable and with additional lamination scratches can be eliminated
      • Provides for a range of colors to be used and ideal for branding
      • The NFC signal is also excellent allowing NFC compatible phones to pick up the signal well
    • Cons
      • Not eco-friendly but some of the PVC card can be re-moulded and used in other applications

In conclusion, there are several options in terms of materials, PVC based NFC cards seem to offer the best value in terms of branding, durability, price and efficiency. While it is not the most eco-friendly option, it still is the lesser evil when compared to printing paper business cards. Irrespective of the choice of the material, one NFC card can replace 100,000 paper cards, so it is a wise decision to shift to NFC Cards.
